Kenny Chesney returns home to the Knoxville, Tennessee area, picks up his grandmother in a private jet and flies down to the Key West to treat her to our very special Blue Heaven Key Lime pie.

Did we mention it was on Oprah?

Oh, and one other thing:

His grandmother had never flown in the air before!

The Three Sisters

Here are recent photographs of the Three Sisters—Jesk, Socks, and Sparky—born this past June or so under the house next door to Blue Heaven. They grew up quickly, and were very cautious about humans for the longest time. Slowly, especially with all the coaxing and instruction and tasty tidbits available to civilized cats here at Blue Heaven, they came around. Now they are regular fixtures.

Well, Jesk and Socks are. Sparkles can be seen daily a half-block up at the very wonderful Besame Mucho, her hang-out of choice. The Sister all remain very close, and clean one another, and are all in possession of great character and personality. Jesk daily takes up residence on Joan's desk and lap (Joan's Desk = Jesk. Get it?) Socks comes and goes in and out all day.

Life of Riley? Oh yes indeed! Very much so. And the pictures below are just an update for the many who have become fans of the Sisters. Enjoy!

This is Jesk. Jesk got her name because that's where she lives...on Joan's Desk!

This is one of the three sisters who have become young teenagers here at Blue Heaven, and it's time to find them a home. At least, Jesk! She's taken over the office.

If you want a wonderful loves-to-be-loved new kitty, come on by and meet Jesk. And if you really feel up to it, she's got two sisters!

As everyone at Blue Heaven knows, Richard and computers go together like peanut butter and bleu cheese.

Which is why noone believed him when he said that on Yahoo! Travel, Blue Heaven was listed as "the #1 restaurant in all the US." In fact, he had three people check it independent of one another just to verify that 1) it was indeed the case, and that 2) he was the one who had noticed/discovered it.

And he was right! On both counts! Above is the screen grab. Or else you can go and see for yourself. Thank you to all the people who wrote about us on Yahoo! for making Blue Heaven #1!

Ricky - BLUE HEAVEN's "Office-ial" Cat

This is Ricky. He is a "good boy" kind-of cat, a tuff guy but a cool and good-feeling cat, as well. And he's not actually missing an ear, it's just crumpled up.

Ricky can be found most regularly lounging on Joan the Bookkeeper's desk. He has a thing for numbers.

Ricky recently had a bad tooth pulled. It was by accident, a side-benefit of being treated for an eye that was having some troubles. Regardless of his terrific office demeanor, he is not the best patient. You can imagine.

Here he is in most office Sphinx pose: As always, Ricky the Cat is on top of things.

Walk (or Bike) to Blue Heaven!!

The parking in our wonderful neighborhood, Bahama Village, is very limited. How limited? Our neighbors have asked us to request our guests to WALK or BIKE or MOPED or TAXI to Blue Heaven. (There is plenty of space for bicycles and motor-scooters!)

All in all, the island of Key West is approximately 2 miles by 4.5 miles, so actually walking most anywhere to and fro on the island is "do-able." However, considering 90% of our guests stay within a 1-mile radius of Blue Heaven, and that we are centrally located (two blocks off of the 700-800 block of Duval Street, at the corner of Thomas and Petronia) and that walking gives everyone the opportunity to experience the best part of Key West island life - that is, the pace - what is "do-able" becomes "worth doing." Plus, it's environmentally practical! As such, we have begun an outreach to our friends and family to walk or bike when heading to Blue Heaven.

BLUE HEAVEN Rum Punch Recipe

Hello,
I had drinks there last week with Julia at the bar. A wonderful experience!!! Julia is awesome!!! We also had dinner which also proved to be an excellent dining experience.

I had the Blue Heaven Rum Punch and I know it had Coconut Rum, Banana Rum and one other kind of Rum. What was the other kind of Rum? I loved the drink so much I wanted to make some here at home as we can’t all live in Paradise all the time. If you could please let me know, I would greatly appreciate it.

Blue Heaven Cat

I was in Key West in 2003 for several days and loved eating at the Blue
Heaven for lunch, and had a slice of the fantastic Blue Heaven key lime
pie. When there I took a picture of a cat who was really panting in the
heat. I have always wanted to email it to you.

While my husband and I were visiting in Key West this past weekend we ate at your establishment. Our breakfast was great and your pancakes were the best we have ever eaten. I visit Key West every few years and the last time we were there you were closed for construction. I'm already looking foward to coming back for some pecan pancakes.

We really enjoyed the coffee and can I buy it online? I'd appreciate the info.

Just want to let you know how much we enjoyed eating at Blue Heaven
(we’re the folks from Washington State). Scott [night manager] was wonderful ! He
went out of his way to make us feel welcomed. Upon leaving the
restaurant he came over to visit with us and asked how long we were
going to be in Key West – only two nights, which was definitely not
enough. He recommended to us a couple of other local spots to try
for food (B.O.’s and a Cuban café). We ate at both and were
extremely pleased.

Thanks again for a fantastic meal and wonderful hospitality!!!

Pilsner Pancakes

For the past five years I've been coming down in March and eating your fabulous pancakes. It appears that I might not make it down this year, and this makes me sad. I'm willing to brainstorm ideas to still get your pancakes into my belly. What do you think is the best way to ship a pancake?

Dear Ryan,
Sorry that you won't make it down to BLUE HEAVEN, but there really is no good way to ship a pancake that will arrive to be as tasty as you remember. However, we''ll let you know our secret ingredient. It's...Budweiser! Yes, as in, the beer.
So, you may want to see if adding some Budweiser to your favorite recipe might help to get the desired effect. Our suggestion is to use your favorite recipe, substitute Budweiser for the liquid, and add the fruit of your choice. Bananas, pineapple, pecan and blueberry are the BLUE HEAVEN specialties!

Yelling out for our Yellowtail!

Dear Chef,
A few weeks ago we had a very nice meal at your restaurant. I had the "yellowtail snapper special" which was covered in an exceptional sauce ... I think it was something like "key lime butter sauce". It was a white sauce and I'm still thinking about the excellent taste!
Would it be possible for you to provide the recipe for this sauce? I promise not to publish it, provide it to your competitors, etc. We live on the New York / Vermont border and we had an enjoyable time in sunny Key West. Our best meal (by far) was at Blue Heaven (recommended by very good friends).
We'll be back ... someday ... and plan to revisit your fine restaurant. Thanks for the excellent food and service. The recipe would be cherished. Have a great Winter season.

My son is always raving about a snapper that you serve with a hollandaise sauce. I would like to prepare something similar for his birthday to surprise him. This came in the email today...

Hi everyone, I will never forget our dinner at your restaurant.

It was the most unique and relaxing experience my husband and I have ever enjoyed. This is no mean feat, as I have spent 16 years in and out of the hospitality industry.

Anyway, I was just googling and was interested in your menu, it is refreshing that your menu is, I think, by and large unchanged since we were there. We travelled to Key West for a day trip, we ended up at atravel kiosk and spoke to a fellow named Daniel McMahon , who ended up marrying us that afternoon at Zachary Taylor beach and recommended your restaurant. We loved
our meal, the special salad and scallops to start, I had a special surf and turf and my husband had the grouper. We also had a bottle of the Gallo Sonoma Chardonnay Russian River. It was splendid! We came back and had brunch the next morning and then we were back to my in-laws who were renting in the Keys. It is getting cold up here near Niagara Falls Canada and it is fun to remember such a wonderful time.
